What are you reading at the moment?

The Curious Gardener: A Year in the Garden by Anna Pavord.

When are you most creative? A certain time of day? Year?

I keep trying to be a morning person and want to go in the studio first thing, but I need to get all of my jobs and chores done first and afterwards my head feels clearer. Then I go in the studio around 2-3 pm and often work through until supper time and if a painting is going well will then return to it and work late, sometimes until bedtime!

What’s your relationship with nature?
Do you draw inspiration from the natural world? How and where?

I absolutely adore nature, I garden most days and take time each day to stop and stare. Most of the flowers in my work are sketched from flowers that I have grown in my garden. We have lots of rabbits in the garden, many types of small birds and about 17 pheasants visit every morning!

When have you had an adventure that fuelled your work? Where did you go? Who were you with? What did you do/why was it so interesting or stimulating?

I love visiting Cornwall and try to get there every few months, one of my most inspiring trips was with handful of friends: some long term and some I got to know through instagram. We all hired a cottage for a week on a cliff top overlooking the sea, we sketched lots, cooked together, swam together and generally had the most inspiring and creative time.
