PLEASE SCROLL ALONG FOR THE STILL LIFE PHOTOGRAPHS YOU WILL NEED
This is a recorded class on zoom so the quality of the video can vary
You will need:
Soft pastels
We will use a selection of coloured Soft Pastels – please have a good variety of colours and shades - Particularly extra shades of green for foliage. Brands I like to use are Unison, Sennelier or Rembrandt. You can pick your individual favourite colours or most brands also have a variety of sets.
Paper
Please bring along a selection of coloured paper and card. My favourite card to use at the moment is the Pastelmat card pads from Clairefontaine. It provides a velvety surface to hold the soft pastels. There are a variety of coloured pads available in different sizes. The 18 x 24cm is perfect for the class exercises or you could cut down larger papers. You may also like to have a larger size paper for our final still life exercise.
Other pastel papers include Fabriano and Canson.
If you can cut some scrap pieces for the class, this will be useful to test out colours.
Extras
I like to use a low tack masking tape to stop my paper from moving.
A putty rubber is useful to gently remove any marks from the paper.
