Join Yuval for an evening of still life painting in oil, exploring the relationships between tone, colour and form. Working from a still life arrangement, you’ll learn to simplify what you see into larger tonal masses, organise light and shadow, and build a composition through careful observation.
Throughout the session, you’ll explore how edges shape a painting, from soft, lost edges that allow forms to merge with their surroundings to sharper edges that create focus and definition. You’ll learn to mix colours, establish tonal relationships and use the quality of your brushwork to bring objects and the space around them into harmony, creating one oil painting during the session.
Yuval’s approach combines close observation with an interest in the subtle tensions between form and space, encouraging you to look beyond individual objects and discover the rhythms and relationships that hold a painting together.
All levels are welcome. Come ready to observe, experiment with oil paint and discover the expressive possibilities of tone and edge.
Once you have bought the class you will be sent the materials list in a separate email. Please download the file, read the materials list and check you have everything you need for the class.
