Join Ellie for a class exploring landscape drawing through colour, pattern and surface texture. We will be using oil pastels and drawing onto a surface of linen. The texture of linen provides some resistance to the act of drawing, which can encourage a more thoughtful and meditative process. We will allow compositions to emerge gradually by shifting between addition and erasure, using the sgraffito technique to scrape back into the layers of our work. The approach will be playful and spontaneous - guided by the interactions between colours and patterns across the surface. Ellie will combine colour theory with an intuitive application of colour based on memory to help build depth, texture and rhythm in the landscape work you will create.
